Undercon recently visited Dendrobium Mine in the Southern Coalfields to complete a demonstration of the Underground Concrete Mixing System using our Wet Bag® Concrete Mix.
Dendrobium is in one of the most beautiful suburbs on the Illawarra Escarpment, making it subject to strict limitations on vehicle movements into and out of the mine site. These restrictions limit the amount of deliveries of ready mixed concrete they can receive and also prevent the empty trucks from leaving the site during certain times. Requiring an innovative solution, Undercon’s Wet Bag® Concrete Mix provided the opportunity for Dendrobium to commence onsite mixing and pouring across unrestricted times, allowing the mine to work more efficiently.
During the site demonstration, Undercon mixed 40MPa Wet Bag® Concrete Mix using two Concrete Mixer Kibbles for Roadway Concrete slab. The first load of 4 x 1.5 tonne Wet Bags took 23 minutes with a relaxed show and tell demonstration and the second load of Wet Bags took only 13 minutes using the onsite mixing system. The only equipment required by the mine beyond Undercon’s Wet Bag System was an LHD loader and air and water to service the hydraulic system. The demonstration was a great success, once again confirming the simplicity of Undercon’s underground Mixing System and its growing solution to remote and problematic concrete projects.
